QUIET DAYS / MEETING INVITATIONS






Saturday, February 9, 2008 - 9:30am - Quiet Day - Holy Spirit, Houston

The Daughters of the King at Holy Spirit Houston invite you to a Quiet Day on February 9, 2008 in preparation for the season of Lent. All are welcome.

It will be held in the Parish Hall of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church from 9:30 until 2:00.

The topic for the day is "Oh Lord, hear my prayer." The day will include:
Composing a Collect (led by Marianne Smith)
Box Lunch
Fuel for the Abundant Life (presented by our Chaplain, Fr. Patrick Hall)
Taize Service
The $10.00 registration includes the box lunch. Please register with Jeanne Spaulding - phone: 832-265-7247 or Send Email . Let her know if you would like a Turkey Po'Boy, a Ham Po'Boy, or a Garden lunch (vegetarian), The Po'Boys will be on wheat bread. We hope to see you there.


Saturday, February 9, 2008 - Anglican Rosary Workshop - St. Pauls Freeport

The Anglican Rosary is made up of 33 beads, the number of years our Lord walked among His people. You have an opportunity to make your own Rosary at the workshop being offered by St. Paul's Freeport's Chapter of the Order of the Daughters of the King. We will gather and learn about this guided prayer icon. We will make our own. The presenters are: Tory Arnold and assisted by Diane Kilgus - both from Holy Comforter, Angleton.

Saturday, March 1, 2008 - 9:30am - Quiet Day - St John's Silsbee

Our St. John’s Episcopal Church invites your DOK Chapters to our Quiet Day on March 1, 2008. The Reverend John Bedingfield will be leading the meditations for the day.

Our DOK Philomena Chapter will provide the soup and drinks; please bring a small salad to share with others. During registration refreshments will be served.

Lent is a good time to withdraw as Christ did to reflect, meditate, and think about our Lord’s suffering and sacrifice for us. We hope this day will be a blessing for you.

St. John’s is located in Silsbee, Texas on 1305 Roosevelt Drive. After entering Silsbee from the South turn left at the seventh traffic light.
9:15 - 9:30 Registration and Gathering
9:30 – 10:00 Morning Prayer
10:00 - 11:00 First Mediation and then silence
11:00 - 12:00 Second Meditation and then silence
12:00 Noonday Prayers and Lunch
1:00 – 1:30 Third Mediation and then silence
1:30 – 2:00 Time for sharing
2:00 – 3:00 Holy Eucharist
